GFXBench 5.0 announced for low-level graphics APIs

March 12, 2015

GFXBench 5.0 is our new graphics benchmark designed to measure and compare the performance of recent low-level APIs including Vulkan, Metal and DX12.

In line with the recent announcement of multiple low-level graphics APIs, our aim with GFXBench 5.0 is to develop a benchmark with visually compelling, rich and highly detailed content. The new low-level APIs enable high-performance graphics rendering with lower CPU usage, allowing GPUs to maximally exploit their horsepower without exceeding thermal limits.

Features

  • Introduces a new, low- overhead solution designed to further increase the parity between benchmarks for different 3D graphics APIs
  • Outdoor night scenery with lots of unique animated objects casting shadows
  • The scenery requires large number of draw calls (more than 6000) to showcase high-performance rendering with dramatically reduced CPU usage and driver overhead.

    Availability

GFXBench 5.0 is under development and currently available for our Benchmark Development Partners.
